Choose an in-or out-of-network healthcare provider
Visit an in-network provider
In-network providers* work with Aetna® to offer you lower rates, helping you save money. When you choose a network provider, they will:
- Get approval from Aetna for certain services for you
- File claims for you
- Provide you with the care you need
To find a network provider, use our provider search tool. You can also request a printed directory by filling out the form on our Contact us page or by calling us.
Go to an out-of-network provider
You can visit any licensed provider, even if they are not in our network. However, when you choose an out-of-network provider, you may need to:
- Get approval from us before receiving certain services
- File your own claims
- Pay the difference between the amount covered by your plan and the amount charged by your provider
Using an out-of-network provider usually costs you more.
There are out-of-network limitations for exclusive provider organization (EPO) plan members*.
